Scott Smart

Vice President of Facilities and Corporate Compliance

Scott is the Vice President of Facilities and Corporate Compliance. He is responsible for leading the company’s efforts in Quality Assurance and Training. A large part of this is compliance with numerous agencies and programs such as FDA, USDA, Department of Defense, SQF and others. He also oversees the various facilities to include equipment purchasing and maintenance support for the production teams.

Prior to working for Duke Food Productions, Scott spent more than 20 years in the Navy as a helicopter and fixed-wing pilot before retiring as a Commander. His experience as a Commanding Officer dealing with all aspects of running a military facility has served the company well.  Following his naval career, Scott worked for Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, TX as a flight instructor. He was responsible for training customers in the classroom, as well as with simulators and on the aircraft.  While growing up, Scott worked in the Duke Sandwich shops doing various tasks for his Grandfather and Uncle.

Scott attended the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD graduating with a degree in Oceanography. He later earned an Executive Master in Business Administration through the Navy Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA.

When not at work, Scott enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his wife and two boys.
